Grading Capacitors

Capacitor Products, such as Coupling Capacitors, Transient Recovery Voltage Capacitors or Grading Capacitors are used within HV networks for various purposes. Examples are: coupling high frequency carrier signals to the power line as well as (in combination with CB) reducing transient overvoltages, ensuring uniform voltage distribution or increasing the switching capacity of a breaker.

Grading Capacitors

Grading Capacitors are used in combination with High Voltage Circuit Breakers with different purposes.

  • Multibreak Circuit Breakers:

  • Single break Circuit Breakers:
  • Grading Capacitors can be used to increase the switching capacity of the breaker

TRV Capacitors

Coupling Capacitors (CC)

  • High mechanical resistance to Static force:
    • due to Line Trap application on the top
    • dynamic: due to short circuit current on HV network

DC Capacitors

Utilized in HVDC applications in conjunction with thyristor valves and can be used for Transient Recovery Voltage (TRV) control in substations and/or additionally for PLC communication, harmonics filtering, fault detection.
